Wellingborough’s Pale is a bright and shiny gold beer with a slightly disappointing aroma.
Not an unpleasant aroma by any means, just not what I was hoping for.
It’s a watery thin lemon and caramel smell that doesn’t make you think, “Ooh, I just have to drink that!”
But once you take a swig everything gets much much better.
The malting is shortcake, runny honey and lightly spiced apple cake, and the hops are sharp grapefruit zest, nettles, blackberry leaf tea and just a hint of lavender.
And with a crisp and clean dry finish my only moan would be I’d like Wellingborough’s Pale to be every so slightly more fizzy.
