Poppyland Brewery Evolution (6.5%)

EvolutionAn IPA brewed with Belgian yeast.
That’s what this is, and what’s more it doesn’t quite work for me.
This is why.
There’s a great big hop presence that hits you about the head with grapefruit and kiwi, rinses you in gooseberries and lemon juice, curling your lips back with its super bitterness.
But the meatiness of the Belgian yeast seems to work against all the hoppy goodness.
It’s a little overwhelming, completely knocking the malts out of the window and making for a slightly confusing finish.
Not Poppyland’s best.
