Grandma’s Pecan is a big beer.
A Belly filling beer.
It’s an “English Style Brown Ale” that jumps out of its can with a mist of roasted nuts and boozy toffee, and slumps heavy in my glass with its old ladies’ cloud of fluff for a hairdo.
There’s a big alcohol hit in here that borders on a burn but just stays the right side of the line, heating up the treacle tart and tamarind, molasses and French toast of the malts.
Then the hops attack, red and crunchy and autumnal, resinous and sticky, leafy and brittle.
And all around this there’s a nuttiness that’s sweet and gooey and makes for a mouth coating unctuous finish.
Very boozy, very sticky, very nice indeed.
