With Brettanomyces involved I was expecting a lip puckering beast, but this is actually a solid IPA with a lightly sour background.
And yes, I understand that over time the Brett will make its presence felt – hence the name – but right now this is a daisy fresh IPA with a good toffee biscuit malt body and a seriously fruity hop that gives you lots of marigold and nettles, kiwi and lime, leading you to a bitter dry finish.
All the while in the background the Brett hints at sourness that will come with age.
I ought to age a bottle.
Very good indeed.
