Bad Seed Brewery Cherry Sour (5.8%)

Cherry SourThis beer threw me a bit.
Being brewed with a shed load of cherries I was expecting it to pour all red/pink but no, it’s a typical beery gold.
There’s a subtle fruity sweetness to the aroma, a hint of berries through the barnyard yeasty fug, and there’s a background hum of fleshy sweetness as you drink.
I suppose I was expecting a far more fruity beer, but this is a sour packed with damp woodland mushroom fungal goodness, lemon juice acidity and a soft gloopy caramel backbone, along with sour dough bread crusts and a handful of white pepper.
The cherries bulk up the beer, adding a subtle extra dimension that’s good, but truth be told you’d struggle to guess there was any fruit in here if you didn’t know.
