Brewdog Unleash The Yeast: Bavarian Weizen (6.3%)

Bavarian WeizenPart of Brewdog’s latest range of beers made with different yeast strains, this one has a subtle hint of fried bananas, wood varnish and flowerbeds.
You get a decent toffee and bran biscuit malt, some sweet sugar syrup at the edges and hops that are spiky and sharp, green hedgerow and a fistful of herbs.
There’s an alcohol warmth that floats around the body of this beer, and there’s an earthy, almost musty yeast that leaves a dry mushroom laced spiciness in the finish.
Bavarian Weizen is a very nice, very drinkable beer, but I find the language of the label, the whole let us show you what yeast is an does to be very patronising indeed.
