Buxton Brewery Ace Edge (6.8%)

Ace EdgeAce Edge is Buxton’s Axe Edge with Sorachi Ace replacing the usual hops and it’s a zingy tangy sensation.
The aroma is all lemon bon-bons and lime zest and the malting just about holds its own under the weight of Sorachi Ace’s fizzy splendour.
You get toffee and biscuits, a little ice cream cornet and a blob of runny honey, and then you get hit by the super sharp fresh blast of Sorachi’s dry pithy citrus rind loveliness.
Waves of satsuma, lime leaves, lemon zest and green tea wash over you while all the time you’re hit repeatedly about the head by a sticky lump of sherbet coated bamboo.
And that’s a very nice experience indeed.
