There’s a big smell of woody jelly sweets that wafts up from this deep amber red beer, and the body of Middle Finger Discount (terrible name) is a heavy, gloopy toffee and crunchy biscuits.
The hops – Mosaic in this case – hit you full in the face with spiky conker cases filled with kiwi and gooseberries, lime zest and lemongrass.
Aged on cedar wood, there’s a definite varnished tea chest rumbling away in the background which adds a subtle meatiness to the long and intensely bitter finish.
This is rather good.
