Surf Brewery Surf Black IPA (6.5%)

SurfThere’s a lovely chocolate spread on toast smell to this beer, and it wafts up to me as it sits in my glass all dark mahogany and cappuccino froth.
Surf’s malts are rich and round, masses of molasses, shortcake, well baked pastry burned at the edges, black coffee and chocolate.
The hops are floral and perfumed, passion flowers and orange rind, peach and melon, sherbet fizzy sweets, lime and kiwi.
The finish is brittle and dry and crisp.
Thoroughly enjoyable, I want more Surf in my life.
