Redchurch Brewery Hackney Gold (5/5%)

Hackney GoldHackney Gold is anything but golden, pouring a deep chestnut brown with the smell of bruised apples, red fruit and caramel.
There’s a good treacle malting with lots of biscuits and some white pepper, and there’s some very nice pithy green hedgerow hops, along with tea leaves and lemon rind.
The finish is long and bitter and dry and I like it very much.
But Gold?
More like Hackney Brown, though as someone pointed out on Untappd, that sounds like a class A chemical.
