Ruhstaller The Captain (7.6%)

The CaptainThis is a super can of Black IPA, and I love that not only are the ingredients listed but also where they are from so that you know the provenance of the hops and barley.
The Captain (great name) smells of lightly spiced malt loaf and the beer sits in my glass a deep purple brown.
There’s a very rich dark malt, all treacle and molasses, bran flakes and fruit cake.
The hops are sticky and resinous, pine and orange marmalade, lemon rind, grape skins and lots of green herbal leaves which leads you to a soft and gooey bitter sweet finish.
Lovely.
