Strand Brewing Co. Musashi (7.5%)

MusashiAs I took my first sip of this beer I actually said, “Ooh, that’s nice,” out loud.
Which is a very good sign.
Musashi is a Black IPA that pours, um, black, and has a big frothy cappuccino head.
The aroma is boozy red fruit and liquorice coated in chocolate, and that’s where you find the flavours start too.
There’s a BIG malt body that’s full of burned toast, treacle, espresso and port.
It’s warm and round and chewy, and over it there are masses of resinous redwood hops, packed with lemon rind and cherry, hedgerow greenery and sticky liquorice root.
The finish is brittle and bitter, long and dry.
As I said, that’s nice.
