This is very similar to Old Oak, but with the added meaty backbone of a Belgian yeast.
And so Blind Monk is like a cross between a Strong Ale and a Trappist Dubbel.
Kind of.
You get treacle and toast from the malts, and lots of herbal green leaves from the hops, and underneath there’s a meaty, almost fungal yeast, mushrooms on toast if you like, along with some hazelnuts and sticky liquorice.
Not bad at all.
