Wild Hop is brewed with freshly foraged and garden grown hops which must mean that the brewers couldn’t have been entirely sure what flavours they were going to get.
I like that idea.
So, what’s it like?
Adnams rich caramel and soft biscuit base – you know, the backbone of many of their beers, from Fat Sprat through Ghost Ship to their Bitter – is in attendance, and over it the hops are grassy and green.
Fresh and herbal, they have hints of aniseed and a splash of lemon, lots of hedgerow and some garden flowers.
The finish is crisp and sharp and bitter, and with an aroma full of apricots and honeycomb, Wild Hop is a rather nice little bottle of beer.
