Haunted Dream is a chocolate Porter brewed with pumpkin pie spices, and the spices are very strong.
In fact, they’re too strong for me, taking over the beer and making it difficult to taste or smell anything other than mace, cinnamon and nutmeg.
You can barely even taste the chocolate in here and considering that this is a “Chocolate Porter”, that’s not really what I’m after.
I want a Chocolate Porter with pumpkin pie spices to have a good warm, round cocoa and treacle body and for the spices to add an extra dimension.
Unfortunately here the spicing is so big that Haunted Dream becomes cloying and overwhleming.
