Tiny Rebel Cwtch (4.6%)

Cwtch:
The Welsh word for an affectionate hug.
There’s no literal English translation, but its nearest equivlent is “safe place”. So if you give someone a cwtch, you’re giving them a “safe place”.
CwtchI love Wales.
I spent a little while living on a smallholding there, rehearsing my band in the open air and learning to drive by rattling around the back lanes of Llanfyllin in our old Morris Traveller.
We had a donkey, a goat, chickens, I even started to learn Welsh so I could sing along with one of my favourite bands at the time, Datblygu.
Generally though, and rather sadly, I find most Welsh beer a bit gwehilion.
However, there are a couple of breweries doing super things and Tiny Rebel, especially with Cwtch, is one of them.
It’s a Red Ale packed with sticky toffee pudding malts and masses of mandarin skins on a bed of freshly mown lawns.
It’s beautifully balanced from its orange marmalade aroma to its resinous finish, deep and round and gorgeous, and it’s made me want to listen to Gorky’s Zygoti Mynci.
