Pressure Drop Syd Strong’s (7.1%)

Syd Strong'sSyd Strong’s is a Black Rye IPA that smells of Parma Violets and patchouli oil, coffee and spice.
It sits in my glass looking oily and slick, dark and leathery and really rather sensual.
The malting is hefty, laden with treacle and black coffee, prunes, rum and honey, with the rye adding a thick brown Marmite meatiness to the roof of your mouth.
The hops are big and floral, pretty with lavender and daisies, peppery with watercress, sharp and metallic with basil leaves, and there’s a pithy walnut dryness that leads you to a long bitter espresso finish.
Syd Strong’s is very good indeed.
