Riley’s Brewing Co. India Pale Ale (7.5%)

India Pale AleConsidering the ABV, Riley’s IPA has a delightfully subtle fruitiness.
The aroma is lightly spiced peaches and apricots and the beer pours a glowing gold into my glass.
What’s particularly pleasing here is that there’s a lovely delicate melon flavour that washes around the whole beer creating a super soft fruity background to the toffee and biscuit of the malts and the fiery resinous redwood and lime zest of the hops.
The alcohol heat creates a dense fug that adds weight to the feel of this IPA, but it’s that extraordinarily soft yet full-in-the-face melon thing that sets this beer apart.
In a word, yummy.
