Shepherd Neame Mash Tun No. 1 (7.4%)

Mash Tun No1Hello.
You’re nice.
Mash Tun No. 1 has been brewed to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Shepherd Neame’s wooden mash tuns.
And it’s a rather good beer too, with lots of toffee and a big biscuit base, masses of resinous woody flavours and a piquant spicy hop hit.
There’s a barley sugar sweetness at the heart of Mash Tun No. 1 and it’s backed up with tamarind and liquorice, green tea and hazelnuts.
Sharp and dry and bitter, there’s a good alcohol heat that rounds out the edges and leaves a nice whisky warmth in the sticky treacle finish.
All this is beautifully presented in a paper wraped 750ml bottle housed in a lovely wooden box.
Happy birthday Mash Tun No. 1
