Ticketybrew Stout (5.4%)

StoutI’m not sure that this won’t sound ridiculous, but I’ve yet to find a Ticketybrew beer that I really like as they always feel like they’re trying too hard.
Desperately trying too hard in this instance, Ticketybrew’s Stout is brewed with Belgian Yeast and treacle and as a result it’s tongue twistingly stickily cloyingly sweet.
You get some coffee and wood smoke and some crunchy red leaf litter along with a decent tamarind and prune aroma, but there’s the most sickly sugariness that overwhelms everything else.
I’d quite like to try a plain old beer with no added extras from this brewery as they’re beginning to feel a little bit like smoke and mirrors to me.
