8 Wired Brewing Co. Tall Poppy (7%)

Tall Poppy - 1Want a beer with a deliciously sweet malt body that feels like a comfortable Best Bitter but has enough hops to rip off your lips?
You do?
Then this is the beer for you.
Tall Poppy is an India Red Ale that pours a deep chestnut red and smells of toffee apples and flower borders.
The malting is sweet chewy caramel biscuits and runny honey which sticks to your face like a big gluey sweet.
It’s soft and round and mouth filling but it never gets sickly as there are a heavenly amount of hops that are sharp and keen and slice at you with lemon rind and lime zest, melon, peach, redwood resin, pine needles and, slightly incongruously but nevertheless tasty, celery and cucumber.
The finish is warm and peppery, crisp, dry and immensely bitter.
Tall Poppy is very good indeed.
