Renaissance Brewing Co. Abundance (8%)

AbundanceOh wow.
I took a sip of this Baltic Cherry Porter and gave an involuntary sigh.
Abundance is good.
Really really good.
From its warm cherry brandy aroma, the way it sits in my glass a blood red tinged mahogany, to its eleven malt body, this is fabulous.
Brewed with cherries, the malts are a dense forest of red wood and treacle, honey and burned toast with the cherries adding a tart fruitiness to the edges, stopping the beer from becoming a fat and flabby walk in the park.
The hops are sharp and bitter and they slap you with nettles and green tea, lemon rind and orange marmalade.
The finish, all espresso and charred bonfire sweet potato, is an absolute delight, and the cherries pop up again to add a fresh round fruitiness as the beer gets all creamy in the aftertaste.
