Brewed a short drive away from my folks’ house, I was thinking about visiting Sacre Brew at the brewery in Wolverhampton when I’m next in that part of the world, and after trying their beer for the first time, I will definitely be paying them a visit.
Man On The Oss is a Rye Saison that pours a very satisfying deep orange and smells of toffee, apricots and spicy dough.
The malting is caramel and honey, Ryvita and brown bread with some cracked black pepper around the edges, and there’s a warm earthy spiciness from the yeast.
There are hops too.
Lots of sharp lemon, hedgerow greenery and a hint of aniseed which leads you to a finish full of orange juice and bay leaves, and a dry and bitter metallic herbal tang.
Very good.
I’ll be over there soon.
