Brass Castle Brewery Hazelnut Mild (4.2%)

Hazelnut MildI had this on draught the last time I was in Sheffield and thought it was absolutely terrible.
It’s a bit better bottled, though it’s all about the hazelnut extract and therefore very one dimensional.
Pouring a Best Bitter red the smell is sweet hazelnuts.
And as you take a swig you realise that the hazelnut extract is all-consuming.
It’s a very nice flavour as it goes, but it totally overwhelms everything else that may or may not be going on in here.
I can’t taste the malts and I can’t taste any hops.
Fortunately I quite like hazelnuts.
