Brewers & Union have rebranded and are now simply And Union, not a huge difference and I’m guessing here, but it may well be to keep in line with all their online presence which has always appeared without the word Brewers á la their Twitter name @AndUnion.
Anyhow, to the beer.
Billed as a, “Bavarian take on the American style IPA,” is super.
It’s big and bold and very fruity, pouring into my glass a deep amber, it smells of toffee apples and red fruit purée.
The malting is enormous, round, gloopy, a little bit dreamy.
You get piles of chewy toffee and peanut brittle, walnuts and honey.
And over the malts there’s a good snappy hop packed with grapefruit and hedgerow greenery, aniseed, herbal leaves and a hint of tamarind.
The finish is the toffee apple from the aroma wrapped in sherbet and accompanied by a long sharp citrus kick.
Sounds good, right?
It is.
