Nøgne Ø Asian Pale Ale (4.5%)

Asian Pale Ale - 1Hells bells, when Nøgne Ø say they have used lemongrass in this Pale Ale they’re not joking.
There is such a strong lemongrass presence that I can barely taste anything else, save for the merest trace of honey and wafer malt and the lightest kiss of sharp bitter citrus hops.
The lemongrass is so strong that it is very much like accidentally spraying your perfume directly into your face and getting some on your lips.
You know that taste?
That almost acrid super strong floral thing is all pervading and, if I’m honest, it’s just too much for me.
And so it appears that I have finally discovered a Nøgne Ø beer that I don’t like very much.
Sometimes less is more and perhaps a better balance could be struck here.
