Flying Dog Brewing Co. Dead Rise (5.6%)

Dead Rise - 1This spiced Summer Ale is really rather good.
It maintains that Flying Dog rugged resinous earthiness that I find in most all of their beer, and the spices prickle as you drink.
Dead Rise sits a lovely amber in my glass and its aroma is nutmeg and cloves, honey and hibiscus.
The malting is gooey caramel wafers, white pepper and a hint of marzipan, and the hopping is sharp and keen, slapping you with lime leaves, grapefruit and mandarin.
And all the while the spices pop and snap and provide a lovely kick to the long creamy finish.
