Red Squirrel Brewery Co. Black Lager (4.9%)

Black Lager - 1This.
Is.
Super.
All burned and woody, the aroma is lightly smoked toffee and the beer sits a deep chocolate brown in my glass.
The malting here is an absolute delight, crammed with forest fruit, treacle tart, toasted hazelnuts and a little toast, and the hops are fresh rolling tobacco, chives, lime and lemon zest that tickle and prickle your tongue.
All that and a finish that’s crisp and dry and infused with a light log fire smokiness that makes this one hell of a good beer to drink.
I just wish it came in a bigger bottle.

*Thanks to the Red Squirrel gang for sending a new bottle when the one I ordered from EeBria was broken.
