Waen’s Extra Pale Ale brewed with nine different hops is really rather nice.
It begins with a lemon and Love Heart aroma that wafts up from a light golden beer.
The malting is soft and subtle, chewy and supple, all runny honey and shortcake biscuits, and over this are hops.
From lip smacking grapefruit rind and lemon zest to gently sweet peach and passion fruit, from zingy orange and lime juice to to smooth round kiwi and gooseberry, in fact the hops almost collapse under their own weight.
Almost, but not quite.
The result is a tongue twirling bottle of joy with a long dry finish.
