Brewed with pumpkin purée and spices, this is one of the better pumpkin beers I’ve tried, and there are a lot out there at this time of year.
Flying Dog manage to combine the rich round earthy fruity pumpkin flavours and the hit of cinnamon and nutmeg with a good sharp IPA hopping that cuts across your tongue with slashes of lemon juice and peach flesh, a little tamarind and a load of satsuma zest.
It means that while the sticky toffee apple of the malt works with the pumpkin and spice to create something that could become overly sweet, the hops pull everything back to a bitter dry finish.
Very good indeed.
