Yet another London brewery, this time based in Battersea, Mondo’s Pale Ale is alright but doesn’t set the world alight.
It pours a honey gold but has a bit of a cabbage and sulphur hum in the background of the peach and passion flower aroma.
The malting is soft and light, Rich Tea biscuits, caramel and salted peanut brittle, and there’s a lemon rind, mango and metallic herbal leaf hopping that leads you toward a very dry bitter finish.
And that sounds quite good, but that sulphurous cabbage in the aroma jumps out and tastes all farty as you work your way down your glass.
You can’t win them all.
