Northern Monk Brew Co. Northern Star (5.9%)

Mocha Porter - 1Northern Star is a Mocha Porter that’s been canned for freshness.
The aroma is coffee and chocolate and the beer sits a heavy leathery brown in my glass.
The malting is round and surprisingly fruity, full of damson jam, black coffee, roasted hazelnuts, treacle and full cream milk.
There’s a crispy crunchy leaf litter hopping, some hedgerow greenery and a fistful of herbal leaves that cut across the sweet soft creaminess of the lactose heavy honeyed plum compote finish.
It’s canned, it’s fresh, it’s really rather good.
