Lust is a Strawberry, Hibiscus and Rose Petal Saison presented in a wax sealed 660ml bottle.
It looks and sounds lovely.
And fortunately it tastes lovely too, though it doesn’t start off in any mind blowing way, with a smell that’s straw and honey and bread dough.
A good Saison aroma, but nothing more.
But when you start to drink this sexy bright pink beer you find soft fruity strawberries whispering away behind the hay bales, caramel and biscuits of the malting, and the rose petals, which by rights should appear as you open the bottle and sniff, instead build their scent as you drink, drifting into the corners of the beer and giving a beautiful fresh English garden feel.
I can’t find any hibiscus, but to be honest I’m not that bothered as I sip away and the alcohol warmth pushes the earthy spice of the Saison yeast to the fore, creating a snappy white pepper heat to the summer fruit and hedgerow finish of this lovely beer.
