Brewed in collaboration with Jackie O’s of Athens, Ohio, and using a Trappist yeast alongside candy sugar and what feels like a truck load of malts, this is one hell of a beer.
Pouring a deep ruby red, the aroma is booze stewed plums and pecans, and this continues into the flavour with the malts giving a hefty treacle laden pecan pie complete with well baked pastry base, a touch of coffee, a fistful of cotton candy sweetness and a good earthy hit from the yeast.
The hopping is a subtle and rather autumnal redwood resin and pine nut, woodland leaf litter and chestnut crunch, and edged as it is by a soft lemon pith, it leads you towards the big round chewy liquorice and bubblegum of the sticky finish.
