I wasn’t expecting much from this and in fact I’ve put off even trying it until now, but this isn’t a bad IPA at all.
Very English, fruity and round, it has a bruised apple and honey aroma and sits a rich gold in my glass.
The malting is round gloopy toffee, shortcake and a little white pepper.
And the hops, Sovereign as it goes, are spicy and earthy, packed with dandelion and burdock, nettles, bracken and hedgerow herbs, lead you towards a good pithy dry bitter finish.
I believe that this is brewed by Wytchwood, which makes it even more of a pleasant surprise as I’m generally not a fan of their beer.
