Fruity and rich, this Weizenbock has really hit the spot on a beautifully warm autumn afternoon.
The aroma is lightly spiced fried banana and mandarins and the beer is a glowing orange marmalade in my glass.
The malting is creamy and round and full of warm caramel, Hobnob biscuits, honey and wafers, and there’s a rather nice and gentle banana and clove hit before the hops give you green herbal leaves, all metallic basil and woody thyme, lemon zest, orange juice and a hint of aniseed.
And with a finish that’s smooth and clean and heated by alcohol, I wish I’d got a much bigger bottle.
