Devil’s Canyon Brewing Co. California Sunshine (7.1%)

California SunshineMy love affair with Rye Beer continues with this marvellous can of goodness from Devil’s Canyon.
Jumping out of its can the colour of orange marmalade and smelling big and bold and fresh, packed with oranges and sour bread dough, California Sunshine looks and smells super.
And then you take a swig.
And everything is good.
This is a beer with a big fat spun sugar and Soreen malt, treacle tart and earthy meaty rye that makes for a big chewy body, and cutting across this loveliness are super sharp spiky hops.
Satsuma zest, apricots and peaches, lemon rind and bitter pithy mown lawns lead you to a lip smacking tongue curlingly dry finish.
In a word, super.
