Fourpure Brewing Co. Beartooth (5.3%)

BeartoothBeartooth is an “American Brown Ale”.
And guess what?
It’s very good.
Pouring from its can a deep mahogany brown, the aroma is peppery pecan pie, all toffee and nuts and a hint of spice.
This is a big malty beer that’s packed with treacle and tamarind, toffee, honey, flaky pastry and ice cream cones, it’s round and chewy and has a good earthiness that touches on Rye Beer, but isn’t.
But for all the malt action there is a good weight to the hopping with a sharp lemon zest and pomegranate cutting across all the gloopy malts with a keen green herbal freshness that adds a good bitter dryness to the brown sugar finish.
