Redwell Brewery Kofra Stout (5.9%)

Kofra StoutUntil now I’ve not been overly impressed with Redwell’s beer, but this Stout brewed with coffee beans from Kofra is really good.
The smell is nutty and fruity with a little vanilla on the side, and the beer sits an inviting purple brown in my glass.
There’s a treacle and biscuit malt and a spoonful of honey and a seriously crunchy autumnal leaf litter hop, and as you work your way down the glass you find mouth coating chocolate and a big blast of freshly ground black coffee that brings black cherries, a little wood smoke, toasted bread and sticky prune jam.
All of this is lovely, and if it wasn’t for the slight thinness to the body, I’d say that this was absolutely super.
