I just fancied a good Best Bitter, and that’s exactly what this is.
Giving me everything I want from this style of beer, Outpost pours a deep copper with a little wispy head, and smells of orchard fruits and biscuits.
There’s a very pleasing brown bread, toffee and honey malt, some white pepper, caramel wafers and just a hint of chocolate, and there’s a very good, and rather English, hopping that is full of hedgerow and bramble jelly, hazel, nettle tea and a little aniseed.
And all of this leads you towards a big warm and comfortingly bitter finish.
