Canned California sunshine, Hill 88 is big and sweet and warm and chewy and absolutely delicious.
Pouring a rich gold with a nice frothy head, the beer smells of foam banana and shrimp sweets, tropical fruit and vanilla.
The malts are sticky with honey, a crunchy dry biscuit base sitting in the background, and everything glued together with a yummy toffee core that’s infused with a good earthy richness from the addition of flaked rye to the mix.
The hops pop out of all this sweet goodness with intense metallic basil leaves, sharp grapefruit zest and lots of gloopy redwood resin that leads you towards a marvellously long and dry bitter finish.
Super.
