This may not be one of Mad Hatter’s best but it’s still a rather fine beer that stands head and shoulders above many others.
Fear Of Eating Words is a Trappist style beer with Brettanomyces and lots of hops, and it pours a rich Amber and smells of sweet silage, toffee and orchard fruit.
There’s a toffee apple and bran flake malt, some treacle and burned brown sugar, and there’s a bunch of sharp green herbal hops.
The Brett adds a light sharpness to the edges of the beer, a bitterness rather than a sourness that prickles on your tongue in the sticky round finish.
