I’ll get my moaning out of the way right at the beginning.
I like a good Best Bitter and this is a very good Best Bitter, but it doesn’t feel right having a Best Bitter in a half pint, in a small bottle, in my mind a Best Bitter comes in a pint.
And I wish that this one had because it’s a big round fruity beer with lots of digestive biscuit, some toasted brown bread, honey and a hint of tamarind.
There’s some chocolate and blackberry leaf tea, a swish of nettles and a pithy hazel woodiness as you get to the round and chewy malt loaf finish.
All in all it’s really very nice, but I want a pint.
