I realise a green hopped beer is probably best as fresh as possible, but it’s taken me until now to get a bottle of Hart’s 2015 edition.
This latest version has been brewed with First Gold, picked the day before brewing and so super fresh, the result is a beer with a delicious dandelion and lemon zest smell.
The malting is soft and subtle, digestive biscuits and honey flavours giving a traditional and rather tasty backbone to the beer, and over it the hops are piquant herbal leaves, garden shrubbery, lemon rind, dandelions and garden border flowers.
What’s more, the beer feels big and juicy, making my mouth water as I reach for another sip.
Superb.
