Northern Monk Brew Co. Parsnip & Black Pepper Dunkelweiss (6%)

Parsnip & Black Pepper DunkelweissBrewed in collaboration with Grub & Grog, this is an absolutely delicious beer, and don’t be afraid of the ingredients involved, as the parsnip is nowhere near as parsnippy as you might fear.
No, instead the parsnips have been roasted and this has resulted in them adding a light fried banana richness that tempers the edges of the earthy snap of the black pepper.
There’s also all the things you want from a good Dunkelweiss, chocolate cake and nutmeg, vanilla, honey and the slap of green hedgerow hops that cuts across the creamy wheat fuelled body.
As you drink this deep dark mahogany brown beer the aroma wafts up at you with sherbet lemons and chocolate raisins, and these raisins find their way into the plump chewy finish.
Superb.
