Brew By Numbers 55|01 (9.2%)

55|01This is Brew By Numbers’ Double IPA.
Brewed with Citra, Mosaic and Simcoe, it’s a big fresh fruity beer that hides its booze frighteningly well.
The beer has been dry hopped four times and only uses Pale malts, so you know you’re going to get a heavy hop hit right from the off.
In fact the malt is just about strong enough to hold the beer together, providing a soft wafer and toffee backbone that’s boosted by the warmth of the alcohol, while all those lovely hops don’t so much attack as seduce with their fresh fruit salad aromas and their juicy mango and peach flesh, sherbet lemon zing, lime leaves and green herbs.
The finish is crisp and bitter and has the most lovely, trust me, pencil shaving woodiness lurking in the corners.
All in all 55|01 is a little bottle of loveliness.
