Charnwood Brewery Fox Tale (4.6%)

Fox TalesCharnwood’s Ruby Ale is very nice indeed, even if it’s not particularly Ruby in colour.
Pouring more of a Best Bitter amber, the beer has a nice little frothy head and smells of toffee and strawberries.
There’s a very good round and chewy toffee and honey coated pancake malt, some digestive biscuit and a lick of plum compote, and the hops give you apricot jam, chestnuts, garden herbs and a chard spiciness that leads you towards the burned brown sugar sticky finish.
