This is a Golden Ale, my least favourite beer style, but this Golden Ale is almost enough to change my mind.
Brewed with First Gold, Admiral and Bramling Cross hops, the beer has that sugary straw and caramel smell that I associate with a run of the mill Golden Ale, but in the background there’s a nice orchard fruit smell too.
Taking a swig the malts are honey and Weetabix, hay bales and apple cores, and the triumvirate of hops provide a spicy green herbal sharpness, some nettle tea and hedgerow hazel pithy dryness that makes for a dry bitter finish.
Still my least favourite beer style, but I’d be more than happy to drink Try Hopped again.
