Soft and warm and chocolatey, this is a very good Dark Mild.
Not that I’m a big fan of Milds.
I find them a little too, well, mild.
But as an example of the style, this one is very good.
Pouring a deep purple brown, the smell is toffee and chocolate, and that’s pretty much everything you get from the flavours too.
Lots of chocolate, some toffee, a little burned toast and just a hint of black coffee while the hops, such as they are, provide a light prickle of hedgerow greenery that leads to a subtle liquorice and Coca Cola thing in the round finish.
