Black Jack Brewery Deer Hunter (5.4%)

Deer HunterDeer Hunter is a Coffee Saison, and it’s far better than it sounds.
I’ll be honest, I was a bit unsure when I read about it, but this little beer works really well.
Though only if you like good strong coffee.
Pouring a pale amber with an enormous billowing head, the smell is bread and coffee and garden flowers.
There’s an immediate yeasty bite as you take a mouthful, it’s warm and earthy and it works with the gooey caramel and brioche of the malts to create a solid body over which you find the sharp slap of bitter lemon and sherbet lime zest hops, some orange marmalade sweetness and the mega kick of superb roasted espresso coffee beans.
It’s a deep round woody flavour and I love it.
